How to choose the right wedding photographer
58Capturing your wedding day is just as important as the day itself. Finding a photographer should be an important step in your wedding planning. This doesn't mean that it has to be a stressful task. Planning and doing your research before hand will save you time and energy.
What are the first steps when choosing a photographer?
1. Decide what you want to spend.
Photographers can range from $500-$2000 to even more then that. A cheaper photographer does not necessarily mean a bad one. Some wedding photographers shoot weddings as a side job. This does not mean that they will not do as well as others that do it full time. Call around or ask married friends who took their photos to find out prices to narrow down your list.
2. Find out if you click with your potential photographer.
After you have your photographer list made by price range, set up an interview with each photographer. See how they interact with you. Are they friendly? Do they respect what you want done, or are they stuck in their rules? A wedding photographer’s personality is a big factor when it comes to your wedding. If you don’t like them, you won’t relax for photos the day of your wedding.
3. Ask to see their work.
If the photographer is experienced, they will have lots of albums to show you. See if you like their style. Some photographers are still old fashion in their ways of photos and others are changing over to the modern journalism look.
4. What do you get for your money?
Find out what their package price includes. Sometimes, a couple may not realize that what they paid for was merely for the photographer’s time. Make sure that a sizeable amount of photos are included. Ask about a possible CD of all the photos as an option.
5. Take some time to think about it before making your decision.
Once a couple fines a photographer they like, they may panic and think that they may lose them to another wedding if they don’t hurry up and sign a contract. Take at least a day to decide and double check references before being quick to sign. Most photographers honor a non-returnable deposit.
6. Have fun with it.
Finding a photographer can be fun. Have fun with looking at all the wedding photos and you just may get some photo ideas for your wedding photos. In the end, you’ll know what photographer is a best fit for you and you’ll have wonderful photos to prove it.
